Back To The Basics

I've been taking a little time away from conceptual stuff, and using it to focus on traditional studies. I'm trying to attend as many open life sessions as I can, and I'm going out to California next month to paint for a week! Looking real forward to that.
Anyway, here's two studies from this weekend. Both oil on board, 8x10".

A great face that you've captured beautifully. I really love your rich paint application. You must've been smiling as you worked on this painting. I can almost see you working on it putting down those confident strokes.

Nice work Marco, its always good to find new materials. I think if you aplyed some thin strokes the effect would be even greater.

Fantastic paintings Marco!!! I see the influences coming out there. Great stuff. I know how hard it is to capture a portrait in a limited time from life. You did a great job!
