Saw Flushed Away
Saw the movie 'Flushed Away' after work today, and had a great time! I was laughing out loud through a lot of it. Those frogs were my favourite. This was a shot in the film that I HAD to come home and sketch before bed. Not very happy with it though...ah well.

Marco, thanks for visiting and for the kind comments! Been looking through your work and had giggling fits all the way through some of them - they remind me of Tim Burton crossed with Edward Gorey, some of them. And I -love- how you use colour! Will definitely be visiting more often.
That frog, he made me laugh. A lot. I may just have to see Flushed Away now, because I do love Nick Park's work. How do you draw and colour your images, by the by? I'm curious since I'm still learning much of the basics of drawing et al...

Thanks guys! Hey Shuku - well, most of the work on this blog is finished digitally, using photoshop. I use mostly round and flat brushes, sometimes with textures applied to them, but always with a Wacom tablet. I'm always trying to learn about colour...for me it's a process of blocking out major values quickly, and then building up both colour and value from there. I try to establish the family of colours, or palette, I want to work with first, just so I'm not fumbling around and creating muddy colour.
Cool painting! I keep hearing positive things about Flushed Away, must check it out!
Ha! Yes, the frogs were the best part of Flushed Away. Well, the toad was pretty great too. Love this painting, very nice!

I'm French as well and these Ninja frogs were the SECOND best of all the movie...
The Marcel frog was the ABSOLUTE best to me.
Then again... Jean reno was ver very clever in this movie.

Aint seen it yet though its weird seeing traditional Aardman characters realised in CGI... Hope my old muckers @ Aards have been able to retain creative control over the content, as initially it was supposed to be a claymation movie. By the sound of your review, Marco, they did!

These are great and I love the idea of doing charicatures just to practice painting and color. Leaves a lot of the stress out of always coming up with something to paint. I just started using Painter so I'll have to post a few practice runs to see what you think. Thanks for the comments. Amazing stuff!!!
