Quick Experiment

This is the result of both being inspired by Ryan Wood's 'faux wood' post, and also wanting to try painting with a higher key palette than I'm used to.

very cool. is this just playing with canvas and brush textures to get this look? very cool stuff. keep up with the quality posts. any insight as to your process in future posts would be SUPER VERY greatly appreciated. awesome.

Thanks Katzen. To answer your question, yeah, I started with a pen sketch, and then multiplied it on top of a canvas texture which served as a base to paint into. It's always more interesting to paint into SOMETHING, other than just a flat background. I could have gone much further with this...it's a bad habit of mine - I tend to get scared and not go as far as I perhaps should.

I like those colors. The green skin tones are working well with the reds.

Thanks for the visit and comment on my blog. Glad you love Brother Bear. It's memorable for me since it's the last one I worked for before Disney Florida shut down.
